What is War-Race?
War-Race is a unique Obstacle Course Race combing sports and culture. Our mission to become the ultimate sports and cultural event that takes you out of any comfortzone and commemorates the battles of WW1 and WW2 around the world. It will always take place in the exact conditions and place of the concerned battle. It’s is a RACE so the idea is to finish the chosen distance as fast as possible. RACE TO HONOR!
Can anyone participate ?
Absolutely. We have different distances and categories that will fit anyone with any fitness level. Check out all the information here.
Can anyone be a volunteer?
Absolutely. First of all we call them “HEROES”. We love our HEROES and are always welcoming new ones in our team. It is the best way to be close to the action and part of our dynamic organization. But most importantly, each HERO is an important member that plays a key role in the success of War-Race. Go to our “HEROES” page to learn more and fill in the application form.
What does a HERO get in return?
I registered but I cannot attend the event. What to do?
Ahhh too bad, you can try and sell/donate your ticket to someone else. Ticketswap.com is one of the platforms you could use. Unfortunately, we can not refund your ticket. Hope to see you next time!
Can I cancel my order?
No, unfortunately, it is not possible to cancel your order. The moment you place your order, we mention that we do not accept cancellations. However, if you add the option “free cancellation”, you are allowed to cancel your order and get a refund of the race price (options not included) until 24hrs prior to the event. This option costs 7 euros.
What type of HERO jobs does War-Race offer?
There are many types of HERO jobs available going from registration, obstacle supervision, race marshal, etc… We always try to use the skills and experiences of our HEROES to a maximum.
Where does War-Race take place?
War-Race will take place on different locations and conditions depending of the Battle it honors. Example: Battle of the Bulge will always take place in the Ardennes, Belgium and in the same period as the battle. Battle of Dunkirk will always take place in Dunkirk, France and in the same period as the battle etc…
How long in advance should I be there?
We advise every participant to be on location according the check-in hours stated on your ticket. This allows a smooth registration, baggage handling, preparation. This will also allow you to explore the event activities.
Are there facilities to put my personal belongings?
Yes, we have the baggage area were you can leave your personal belongings and recuperate them after the race.
Are there changing rooms and showers?
We provide an area where you could change and clean up after the race. However we do not have actual showers.
Are there food stands?
Yes, there are several different food and drink stand in the Event Basecamp.
Can I buy War-Race merchandise?
Yes absolutely, War-Race merchandise will soon be available on our website but also during the Event.
Can I participate without wearing tactical gear?
Our race is unique, that’s why it honours the fields, the history, the sacrifices made by these heroes. That is why our tactical equipment (Kamo) is mandatory for the CAVALRY and ARTILLERY distances.
For a discovery option, it is possible to participate with or without our Kamo only for the INFANTRY distance.
Do I have to rent or buy the tactical gear?
Tactical equipment is part of the race concept, it is essential to carry the penalty weights for the CAVALRY and INFANTRY distances, food and water supplies and your race number. These are specially designed for the War Race. It is possible to participate without the Kamo for the INFANTRY distance.
This is not included in the entry fee and is available for rent. It is temporarily no longer possible to buy it.
What are the prices?
All prices can be found on the race page. Click on the race of your choice and scroll down to see the prices under each distance as well as an overview table of all prices.
It is not very comfortable to run with the tactical gear. Can I take them off during the race?
Suck it up Soldier, you signed up to honor the battle and the ones who fought in it. It is not allowed to take them off. Doing so, will not allow you to earn the finisher medal and goodies. The only time it is allowed to take off the tactical vest, it is if you are not moving (taking a break for example). Once you engage in the race again, tactical gear must be worn. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. Do what it takes to reach the finish line and you will be proud.
Can I bypass an obstacle I don't want to do?
We encourage you to take on every obstacle. If However you decide to bypass an obstacle, 2 KG (4.4lbs) will be added to your backpack. If you at least try to tackle the obstacle and fail, the penalty will be 1KG (2.2 lbs) added to your backpack.
How many refueling stations are there during a race?
There are no refueling stations. Another thing that sets us apart, is that you will receive your refueling package with your tactical gear during registration. It is up to you Soldier to drink when you are thirsty and eat when you’re hungry.
A refreshment station will be present on the course for participants running without Kamo
What is the penalty for failing an obstacle?
Failing an obstacle results in a 1 kilo (2.2lbs) weight added to your backpack. So the more you fail obstacles, the more weight you will have to carry for the rest of the race. However, in the Open category, when you fail an obstacle, you are allowed to try again. If you succeed, you can carry on without the additional 1 kilo (2.2 lbs) weight. A third attempt is not allowed.
A penalty of 20 BURPEES will be given to participants without Kamo
Is there a Podium for winners of the Race?
There is currently no podium.

Open: This is open to anyone willing to participate in War-Race. There are 3 distances: Infantry 5+ KM, Cavalry 10+ KM and Artillery 15+ KM.

I am a war veteran. Can I get KAMO for free?
Thanks for your service. Yes you can if you provide proof of service during War and proof of discharge (meaning you are no longer in service). Send us these documents and we will get back to you rapidly.
Can I take pictures and videos for personal use?
Yes, you can
What if I'm injured during the race and unable to finish the race?
You will be taken care of by our volunteers, Race Marshals & Medical staff. They will assess the situation and take necessary actions.
Can I come and watch a Race?
Absolutely. The soldiers need supporters and there are different activities in the main Event Area. You can also enjoy food, drinks and merchandise while following the coverage of the race on the giant screen.
